Woodlands 4x4 stop outside Francistown and a chance to get Pula led to a two night stay at Nata Lodge and a trip to Sowa Pan and the Sanctuary. We are becoming avid "birders" - is that a sign of some sort?! The Pans are vast and there was just us and the birds.
Just us, and the birds.
Old River Bridge Backpackers in Maun became home for three nights - I think we were the longest staying residents. Interesting people - locals and foreigners alike. Rod very comfortable chatting to all and sundry - his theory - " people are more friendly to people with long hair"!
Shoes or no shoes - our choice!
Scenic flight over the Delta was a real highlight made more so by the fact that we had to make a semi -emergency return to base due to overheating and then take off in a slightly bigger plane - we could not stop our grins from ear to ear.
The first plane
Decided to give Moremi a miss on the advice of other travelers - roads really bad and not much seen besides loads of Ellies ( we will see those at Chobe ), so we moved on North.
Stay at Sepupa Swamp Stop not to be recommended but after a two night stay we were quite fond of "Missy" and the setup there.
A day visit to Tsodlio Hills, a World Heritage site, was a highlight for both of us. This "family of hills" just arose out of flat, and I mean flat, Kalahari.

Really really flat!

One of 4500 rock art paintings by the San in this area.
Bums and hands down the Cliff Trail !
Sunrise at Swamp Stop on the Okavango and a morning boat ride over an aquarium, just beautiful.
Mohembo border crossing into Namibia a piece of cake. First stop Ngepi Camp for three nights. So quirky and fun - we could just stay and stay, but, we did not take into account school holidays and there is no room left!
The throne in The Garden of Eden.
So tomorrow we head off up the Zambezi Region, formerly The Caprivi Strip - campsite not known. 😀
Glad to hear you are having a wild time. Where are the photo's of the tiger fish Rod has caught with his fishing rod??? Enjoy reading your blog and seeing your photo's. Keep blogging!!
